1 Using MLA form

2  Collect information from all sources.  See MLA guide on Website for most common sources.  Generally the author’s last name is the first information needed.  Invert the author’s first and last name so that the last name is the first information seen.  If no author is given (as often happens in periodicals or online sources), use the “Title” of the source.

3  Determine the correct alphabetical order of the sources.  When recording each entry, begin at the left margin.  All other information is given across the line to the right margin– not as a list.  Double space entire page.  Additional lines for that source will start at five spaces from the left margin.

5  Alphabetize entries by author's last name or the first available information  Follow correct order of most current MLA guide.  First lines start at the left margin.
