Rules of Fractions with the Pittsburgh Steelers By Ralph Crouch

The three main parts of a fraction 1. Numerator or top number 2. Division 3. Denominator or bottom number Example: ½ The Coach is watching so try your best

Changing a Mixed Number into a Improper Fraction * Holmes takes the Denominator and multiplies it by the whole number in front of the fraction. * Second he takes his product and adds the Numerator to it and then keeps his Denominator the same in his answer. * Example: 3 and ¼ 1. 3x4=12 2. 12+1=13 3. 13/4

Making a Improper Fraction into a Mixed Number * Health knows how to mix up the defense whenever he is running his routes. * 6/4 is and Improper Fraction. To do this problem you just have to take 6 and divide it by 4. * Example: 6 divided by 4 is 1 and 2/4 or 1 and ½.

Finding Equivalent Fractions * There is nobody equivalent to Heinz Ward. * This is how Ward finds an equivalent fraction for 6/8. * Heinz can multiply or divide the Numerator and the Denominator by the same whole number * Example: 6/8 multiplied by 2/2 is 12/16. * Example: 6/8 divided by 2/2 is ¾.

The Time is now to Add Fractions * Big Ben will tell you how to be a champion at adding fractions. * First you have to make sure that your Denominators or the bottom numbers are the same in the two fractions. * Next you add the two Numerators or the top numbers together and keep the Denominators the same. * Example: 3/8+2/8=5/8

It is Crunch Time to Subtract Fractions * Whenever subtracting fractions, Troy always makes sure that the Denominators or the bottom numbers are the same. * Next you subtract the Numerators or the top numbers and then keep the Denominator the same. * Example: 7/9-2/9=5/9

Multiplying Fractions with Willie Parker * Willie thinks that Multiplying fractions is easy and quick to do, that’s why they call him “Fast Willie”. * The only thing you have to do is multiply the two Numerators and the two Denominators. * Example: 2/3x2/5=4/15

Dividing Fractions with James Harrison * Don’t run the ball by James Harrison because he will flip you just like dividing fractions. * Whenever you divide fractions you always have to flip the second fraction and then simply multiply the two Numerators and then the two Denominators. * Example: 1/7 divided by 3/5= * Example: 1/7x5/3=5/21

Kick your way through Fractions * Hopefully you can now relate your favorite player to a fractional problem.
