Seminar 4 – Strategies for Vivian Vivian is an 8-year-old student with developmental reading and writing disorders. Her special education teacher has already provided modifications for her, such as using a picture schedule (as opposed to the written schedule on the blackboard), and this seems to help her with transitions. She also is encouraged to use the computer programs and audiocassettes to enhance her understanding in content areas such as science and social studies, in addition to reading. She often gets frustrated when working independently, but her aid, Ms. DelBarton, is effective in interceding when this happens.
