2 DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS TIPS BEFORE A DISASTER Prepare to be self-sufficient for at least 3 days: Ensure battery charge of mobile communications equipment Learn how to shut off electrical boards, gas lines, water mains that are damaged. Familiarize yourself with the local evacuation areas and protocols. Familiarize yourself with the emergency hotlines. (Encode the numbers in mobile phones) Inform FGen your whereabouts through the employee phone tree protocols Monitor weather and road conditions in your area. 3 DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS TIPS DURING A DISASTER If you are evacuated:If you stay at home: Follow directions of local officials. Carry your emergency kit with you. Bring your mobile communications equipment including charger. Unplug appliances, turn-off electricity, gas, and main water valve. (SAFETY: do not attempt to reactivate switches without professional consultation). If time permits, elevate or move furniture to upper floors. Inform colleagues/family outside of storm where you are going. Inform FGen your whereabouts through the employee phone tree protocols Lock home and leave. Listen constantly to the radio or television. Ensure availability and battery charge of mobile communications equipment. Stay inside away from windows, skylights and glass doors. Inform FGen your whereabouts through the employee phone tree protocols If power is lost, unplug appliances.

4 Stay calm. Check on neighbors, especially the children, elderly and disabled. Get tuned to radio and television for instructions and news reports. For your own safety, cooperate fully with public safety officials and instructions. Check for broken electrical wiring, downed power lines; warn others to stay away. Check home for cracks and damage. Keep streets clear for emergency vehicles. If you must drive watch for downed power lines, flooded streets/roads and undermined roads. When electricity is lost for several hours, frozen and refrigerated food may not be safe to eat. Conserve water. If your water system lost pressure, boil water for 3 mins before consuming. In warm weather, empty water out of tires, flower pots and other containers to limit mosquito larvae growth. Once secured, inform FGen your whereabouts through the employee phone tree protocols Take pictures of the damage, both house and contents, for insurance claims.
