*Elizabethtown College Graduate *Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education *10th year teaching, 3rd year in Bellmawr *Teacher of the year 2012 *originally from PA but have lived in Jersey for 8 years *I love fitness, Phillies and crafts

School Hours School Hours 8:35-3:00 Lunch and Recess 12:30-1:15
Dismissal 2:55 After 3:15 your child will need to be picked up at CARE in the gym

Kindergarten Homework
*Read at least 15 minutes every night…be sure to log minutes on 100 Book Challenge Log *Popcorn Words If there are skills that your child needs to practice, other work may be sent home periodically.

Curriculum Benchmark Literacy(Language Arts) Guided Reading Groups
Whole group lesson Workstations Everyday Math Hands on learning Practice through playing various math games

Curriculum FUNdations Phonics program
Children will learn letter formation, letter sounds and keywords, blending sounds into words, word structure, and sentence structure Rocket Math Timed skill and drill practice Writing Numerals “Blast off” through the levels Begins in January

Curriculum 100 Book Challenge Incentive Reading Program
Students read on individual level (Fast,Fun,Easy!) Initial reading log each night (read for 15 minutes) Types of reading that count… *you reading to your child *your child pretending to read using the pictures *your child reading to you School Goal for the year is 250 Steps!!!

Learning Expectations
By the END of Kindergarten your child should be able to… Count to 100 Add and subtract fluently within 5 Read a book on their level (C) Write more than one sentence using capitals and punctuation Read and spell all popcorn words Identify all uppercase and lowercase letters and produce letter sounds Segment and blend sounds to read and make words Three Report Cards starting with 2nd Marking Period Conferences at end of 1st Marking Period…as needed after that
