1 Of Mice and Men Practice Essay Write a one paragraph literary analysis relating one of the characters from the novel with one of the provided themes. Use two different types of concrete details (Quote/Paraphrase/Summary) and cite them using two different methods.

2 Jane Schafer Paragraph T.S. – Topic Sentence C.D. – Concrete Detail (Quote/Paraphrase/Summary) CM. – Commentary (Your Opinion about the CD) C.D. – Concrete Detail (Quote/Paraphrase/Summary) CM. – Commentary (Your Opinion about the CD) C.S. – Concluding Sentence *Your Paragraph needs to be a minimum of 8 (it can be more, in fact, it probably should be more seeing how I’m only asking for one paragraph) well developed sentences. You don’t have to follow the format of the model exactly… You MUST have a topic sentence, at least 2 concrete details (quotes/paraphrases/summaries), 4 commentaries (opinions stated as a fact) and a concluding sentence. However, it can be in any order you would like.*

4 INTERNAL CITATIONS: “Type your quote here” (Steinbeck 32). On page 32 of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men George states “Type your quote here.”

5 Concrete Details: Quote: “He ain’t no cuckoo, He’s dumb as hell, but he ain’t crazy” (Steinbeck 39). Paraphrase: Lennie isn’t crazy, but he is dumb (Steinbeck 39). Summary: George thinks Lennie is dumb, but not crazy (Steinbeck 39).
