Painter from Venice during the Renaissance Came from a family of Venetian painters Learned art in his father, Jacopo’s workshop Hieronymus- St. Jerome- in the Desert, c. 1455; one of his earliest paintings

Styles of Art Began using Quattrocento styles but matured into the progressive post- Giorgione Renaissance styles Worked with tempera in his early paintings Painted colorful, atmospheric landscapes

Transfiguration of Christ c. 1487 oil on panel. One of 2 paintings of the transfiguration of Christ he did, this one is less gothic in nature and has a loose, warm feeling.

Major Achievements Most important contribution to art was his experimentation with the use of color and atmosphere in oil paintings His school greatly outshined those of his rivals Had a major influence on his pupils, such as Titian and Giorgione Is considered to have revolutionized Venetian painting

The Feast Of The Gods Bellini’s last painting, c. 1514, Bellini died before it was finished but completed by his pupil, Titian. It was one of only a few of his paintings on canvas.

Other Famous Works Madonna and Child, c. 1450, Bellini painted a lot of art that closely resembles this Dead Christ Supported by Two Angels (Pietà), c. 1460, As Bellini,matured his paintings became more religious in nature
