Why HealthTran Exists… Increase access to healthcare. Demonstrate that access to public transportation can improve patient health outcome. Maximize public transportation. Minimize unnecessary healthcare expenditures. Improve patient experience and quality of life.

HealthTran - The Big Picture Gather quality data to support the theory that transportation, does in fact, improve patient health. Use data to advocate for increased transportation funding at the state & federal levels to improve healthcare access and patient outcomes. Create a sustainable & duplicable program.

Where Are We Now? Transit trips average $3.00 for “in-city” to $81- $150 round trip for specialty services depending on distance. Mid-September 2015 Half way through the 3 year grant period Nearly 3,500 ride referrals Planning Grant partner – Health Care Collaborative of Rural Missouri (Lafayette County)

Barriers Lack of rural healthcare providers. Lack of transportation services/routes. Cost and distance of travel. Hard to navigate transit schedules/systems. Lack of funding. Public awareness / stigma. Medical cost (copays) and insurance changes. Silos among systems.

Sustainability Health Access is a VIABLE selling point for funding transportation providers. Transportation is a VIABLE option to reduce the cost of healthcare and improve health outcomes for health care providers. TOGETHER Health & Transit can be a strong VOICE FOR CHANGE!
