How to Apply for Travel Select your category using the drop down menu.

How to Apply for Travel Once you have selected your category, enter SSN and DOB, then click on LOGON

How to Apply for Travel If your correct category appears, press the Continue button. If this is not your category, use your browser back button and select the correct category. If the agency you have selected is wrong, press the back button. If your correct agency appears, press the Continue button.

How to Apply for Travel When you get to this page, there will be worksheets available ONLY if you have a valid training reservation. If your application is still pending, or you have been confirmed as a WAIT, you will be unable to access a travel worksheet.

How to Apply for Travel The first step is to select your travel requirement. You have 3 choices (click to jump to that section): 1. No Travel RequiredNo Travel Required 2. TDY and ReturnTDY and Return 3. Local MileageLocal Mileage

TDY and Return On this travel worksheet, we will select TDY and return. This is for a distant location requiring air and/or overnight travel.

TDY and Return Use the drop down menu to select your Means of Transportation.

TDY and Return Use the drop down menu to select your Mode of Transportation.

TDY and Return On this travel worksheet, we have selected TDY and Return, Commercial Plane.

TDY and Return The next block is the Origin Airport Code. If you don’t know your airport code, click on the search for airport code link. Note, you need to complete this block even if you are driving.

TDY and Return You may enter a portion of the city name to have the system look for your airport code. Type in a few letters and click the Retrieve button.

TDY and Return This is the system return screen based on my selection of “wash”. To select your airport code, click on the correct code link.

TDY and Return Indicate whether or not you are willing to drive (even if you are flying).

TDY and Return Enter the cost of your airline travel. You will need to get the airfare ahead of time, and you need to include this even if you are driving.

TDY and Return This section allows you to show any additional travel requirements you may have. Click all applicable boxes. Be sure to include a note if you have any other requirements or variations.

TDY and Return TDY and Return worksheet confirmation. The system returns you to the course selection screen for your travel worksheet(s). If you need to make a change, you can re- select the course. Otherwise, click on the next course to continue, or exit from CHRTAS.

Local Mileage We will use the same course in this next demonstration and choose a different travel requirement: Local Mileage. Use this when you will be driving back and forth from your residence to the training site each day.

Local Mileage Selecting Local Mileage returns a different travel worksheet. Travel Mode available is Auto or Motorcycle.

Local Mileage BALTIMORE, MD ABERDEEN, MD WASHINGTON, DC 23.07 miles 73.40 miles 100 miles 3 days $108.00* The system does mileage calculations based upon your residence, your duty location and the class location. The calculation is IAW the JTR. It determines the distance between your residence and your duty station. Then it calculates the distance between your residence and your class location. If the distance between your residence and your class location is less than your duty station, you are not entitled to local mileage.

Local Mileage Once you are finished, press the Submit button.

Local Mileage Local Mileage Confirmation The system returns you to the course selection screen for your travel worksheet(s). If you need to make a change, you can re- select the course. Otherwise, click on the next course to continue, or exit from CHRTAS.

No Travel Required The final travel requirement is “No Travel Required.” Use this when the class is at or near your worksite or otherwise not far enough away to provide any travel entitlements. If this is your situation, no further action is required in CHRTAS.
