Advocate An advocate is… someone who speaks on behalf of another person. someone who actively supports an idea or cause.

We Both Have BIG Shoes to Fill

One Can not Replace the Other School LibrariansPublic Librarians Have contact with students and teachers every school day Support curriculum plans May be the only librarian/library a student has access/exposure to Teach students how to use the library Make technology fun Have voluntary contact to students after school, weekends and during the summer Not restricted by curriculum Foster lifelong learning Continuity of library service from birth to infinity

Both are Beneficial to the Students

One Step Further Students, teachers, parents, and administrators receive the best service if we all work together -share curriculum and assignment information -promote summer reading participation -refer students to resources available at the school or public library that the other one does not have

What can we do together? If we think of each other as partners- the possibilities are endless!! Curriculum issues become public library field trips -Hip Hop Biographies -Extra credit for library program
