(20,575 ft.) summit of Salcantay down through layers of high grassland and diverse cloud-forest habitats, to below 1,725 ms. (5,660 ft.) at the confluence of the Aobamba and Urubamba Rivers.

9. Homes of the Incas The Incas were one of the last great civilizations to live in South America. The civilization started in about 1200 A.D. and ended in about 1530 A.D. when the Spaniards arrived. The Inca Empire stretched from Ecuador to Chile or about 2,500- 3,000 miles.
