2 Chartered accountants work in accounting firms, government agencies, and in departments of large organizations. They work indoors in offices and spend a great deal of time meeting with clients. They work 40 hours a week, 50-60 hours during a busy week. The tasks of a chartered accountant are to guide the financial planning of organizations and people. This is to develop accounting systems for businesses and clients to track their expenses. They ensure the accuracy of financial statements.

3 Being a chartered accountant can be a financially rewarding profession. For university graduates entering the profession as trainees, salaries can range between $35,000 and $50,000 a year and with 3 to 5 years of experience can earn $100,000 or more a year. However, salaries for Chartered Accountants can vary depending on experience, employer, industry, and geographic location. Also, based on the number of clients they can attract and the rates they charge for their services. Accountants in large firms can earn well over $200,000 a year with the required experience. Chartered accountants typically receive benefits, such as dental plans and sick days.

Employment at a training office is also required and the training period is around 3 years in length but may vary. Finally, candidates must pass the Uniform Evaluation which is a 3-day exam written once a year by all candidates across Canada.
