Demo #2 – Rainbows of Fun Two bottles: One warm, one cold. What happens when we put the warm on top of the cold? What happens when we put the cold on top of the warm? Colorful Convection Currents

Demo #3 – Hot Air Balloon A bag full of room temperature air is heated with a hair dryer. What will happen to the bag? Missed Class? Try it at home!

Activity:Sink or Float? 1. Your group has been given 5 unique items. Make a prediction if each item will sink or float in a bin of fresh water. Record your predictions in Data Table #1. 2. Make a prediction if each item will sink or float in a bin of salt water. Write it in data table #2 on the next page. 3. After you have made your predictions, bring your items to the TEST AREA. 4. Test the five items (one at a time) in the bin of water. Observe what happens and record your findings in data table 1. Be specific about how each item sinks or floats. (fast, slow, etc)
