Important For You!! Centralized Orientation – Why?? –In-person, general orientation –Regulatory compliance initiative for all nursing & nursing- related faculty, regardless of GHS employee status Update: Working on alternate methods of achieving goals of Centralized Orientation Boot Camp – Why?? –Competency skills validation for key skill requirements; mirrors GHS nursing & nursing-related staff Medication Test Alaris Pump Training Infection Prevention- PPE –Exemptions for faculty who are GHS Employees

Faculty Scope of Practice / Supervision Expectations / Updates –Faculty engagement: Groups of students: “at all times” on unit; engaging in skills and / or critical thinking. Observational students: rounding on students by phone or in person –Unit Specific Orientations: Faculty Orientation- Faculty with rotation of students –Each semester expectation: Meet with unit “at least” 1 week prior to clinical start date to notify unit of presence. Student Group Orientation- Faculty responsibility Individual Student Orientation (Practicum, US, SurgTech)- Manager/Educator to complete –Pre/Post Conference- enclosed room on unit, conference room, or off campus –Student/Patient Assignments- must create assignments with Charge RN/Supervisor –Nursing Students/Faculty Skill Update: Urinary Catheter Insertion- Skill change for students / faculty –CAUTI initiatives; required competency training –Temporary change
