What is Wheelchair Basketball?
Wheelchair Basketball is a disability sport, and one of the most well known Paralympics sports. Differences with Wheelchair Basketball is the uses of classifications for players. What is Wheelchair Basketball and how does it work? What Basketball is about Paralympics and how it has encourage children to start the sport How some people can get involved by, open events schools etc. Classification Classifications go from 1 point to being the lowest and less able to 5 point players who are able bodied people can player on court Women get 1.5 points knocked off if playing in mixed teams. Amount of player s on at one time 5 players can only play on court at one time. Combine less able player with the more able players. How this helps to work as a team better. Rules the game has 4 quarters with 10 minutes in each quarter. Still the same height of 10 foot net Five fouls and you are off There are team fouls . The same rules apply as able bodied Basketball. The total amount of points allowed on court at the same time is 14.0 points.

How can Wheelchair Basketball be motivating?
Being able to play at the same level while playing a game . Playing against other teams around the UK and gain new experiences. Gaining new skills and bonding with other members of the team. Playing at same level The interest of playing with people from different levels of disabilities all on the same court. Other teams What it is like to play full matches against other teams. Being able to get to know other players from other teams Responses from other coaches from other teams on how you play. Gaining skills. What skills you can gain from wheelchair basketball. Moving down court while dribbling ball Shooting with a defender in front Working in defence and offence. Having fun. Put video clip on for 2 and a half minutes.

How wheelchair basketball had started?
Wheelchair basketball came about when it was first played in the USA, where basketball players who had got injured in World War II. The first international games where brought to the UK in 1955 and the introduction to wheelchair basketball. The history of wheelchair basketball They wanted to change the running sport into a sport for people to play in wheelchairs. First play that had promoted the sport in the USA was a veteran administration hospital, which helped to promote them as a formation of national wheelchair basketball association (NWBA). This association was run by players and to try and include potential newer players to join in and for them to, experience the enjoyment and top be welcomed to a team sport. Once they had started this sport that had become more aware to people within the USA and elsewhere. The first international games was held at stoke Mandeville which is a hospital that had specialised disability sport to be encouraged for people with disabilities. Later down the line they had built stoke mandevile stadium where they give sports facilities especially for the disabled as well as the able bodied.

The Club that I have Joined Jaguars WBC
In the Junior programme are two teams the under 19’s and under 15’s. Jaguars have built my basketball skills and personal skills. About Jaguars WBC Also we are building up a Division 4 team as our third team to play against teams within Midlands B. The Club have joined Jaguars WBC. About Jaguars Club 20 years / Newark. Join 4 years ago/ training. Teams First division team / moving to premier division. Age groups ( up to 70 years old.) What the game is like. Known as a non contact sport. Commitment/time. Junior Under 15s min age 10 Under 19s min age 13 The only difference in junior leagues is the height of the net. Div 4 Div 4 for developing players. Can have up to 12 players on a team. Min 5 players. Feedback questionnaire. Jaguars WBC have two teams in the first and second division to play against teams within our region.

How a player can progress to become a part of the Great Britain Squad?
LEVEL OF A PLAYER What they have achieved to be at this level? GB Squad Player They are able to play for their country and playing the highest level of wheelchair basketball. Multiple Regional Player A player who has experience in travelling and playing for other teams to then be able to reach higher expectations in playing wheelchair basketball Regional Player This is a player who is with a local club and progressed their skills to join into other clubs to player higher division games. Local Club Player This involves with a player being a beginner in wheelchair Basketball or a players who is developing, their skills.
