For the final project, you will reflect back on all you have read and learned about this term and PICK ONE EVENT to explore in depth… 1. You will discuss how your own life would be different if one specific event of the 1960s had never occurred. 2. Think about how did that same event influenced your course of study and your choice of career path. 3. Finally, explore how different would the world be if that same event had never occurred.

 Your paper should be 7 pages  Separate Cover page (page 1)  Separate Reference page (Page 7)  Double spaced with #12 font –Times New Roman, and 1-inch margins on all sides  Each section should be about 1 ½- 2 pages.  Have a minimum of four outside sources, not including the texts. These sources should be scholarly, academic sources – no encyclopedias, Wikipedia, or Wikipedia-type Internet sources (answers.com, etc.)

Introduction: is 4-5 sentences in length. TIP: I would advise leaving this section until you finish the body of the paper. It is hard to write an introduction to a paper that isn’t written yet.

Name and describe an event from the 1960’s. Name and describe an event from the 1960’s.  NOTE: This is one area where you will be using your references.  TIP: If you are having trouble thinking about an event to choose, check out a timeline of events from the 60’s. You do not have to write about one of the “big events” like the civil rights movement. **You may pick anything as long as you can make it work in the project. **  EXAMPLE: One student picked the release of the Beatles’ White Album as an event and it worked great! The connection between the song Helter Skelter and Charles Manson influenced the students choice of majoring in Criminal Justice.

How have the events and issues of the 60s impacted your personal life?  NOTE: Draw upon a specific theory or concept to analyze how your personal life has been changed.  TIP: Make sure that you do not make this project only an autobiography. Balance this section with the rest of the paper.

 How has this event influenced your career choice?  State your major and/or career field  Discuss how this event influenced your career choice  Explain how has your discipline or career path changed because of these events.

For instance: If you are a nurse or nursing major, what specific events and issues of the 60s have changed medicine?  How have they changed how we view the medical industry?  What specific theory and concepts from the medical discipline would be applicable to analyzing various events and issues from the 60s (i.e., The Pill, deinstitutionalization)?

 Part III. From a global perspective,  Part III. From a global perspective, How the world would be different if the specific event had not occurred.  What are the positive aspects?  What are the negative aspects?  How has the worldview of the United States changed as a result of the events and issues of the 60s and since then? TIP: This is where a lot of students give up and stop writing. Do not just stick this in the conclusion....it needs to be a whole section like the rest of them.

 Conclusion: Write a 4-5 sentence conclusion.  TIP 1: Now go back and write your introduction  TIP 2: Check that you have a minimum of four outside sources, not including the texts, cited in text and a separate reference page. These sources should be scholarly, academic sources – no encyclopedias, Wikipedia, or Wikipedia-type Internet sources (answers.com, etc.).  TIP 3: Plan ahead  KUWC  TECH/LIFE ISSUES
