5 TOURISM BUSINESS COUNCIL OF SOUTH AFRICA  June Crawford was elected to the Board of TBCSA at their AGM  TBCSA Board to meet for the second time with Minister of Tourism on the 13 November 2015  TBCSA attended feedback meeting with Minister of Tourism and the Deputy President

6 DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS  Inter Ministerial Committee on Immigration Regulations findings released on 23 October 2015 Concessions made by the Committee:  Postal applications from countries without South African missions to be accepted (only for medical/visitors Visa)  Implement biometrics including fingerprints at ports of entry  Introduction of Accredited Tourism Company(ATC) Programme for China, India and Russia.  Continue issuing long term Visa to frequent travellers (Valid for 3 Months and not exceeding 3 Years)

7 DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS Concessions Continued:  Unabridged Birth certificate and parental consent required only for South African Children  Birth certificates(Original or Certified copy) required on Visa application process – Foreign Children from Visa obligated Countries  Advise to carry Proof of relation and consent from parents/Guardians - Foreign children from Visa exempt countries  Isolated incidents have been reported at Airport level  Department of Home Affairs Deputy Director Airline Liaison – Advisory to be issued

8 SA TOURISM  Review of South African Tourism called for by Minister of Tourism is complete  BARSA provided input  Report published – 17 July 2015 – Key Notes below:  Unreliability of Statistics SA data  Immigration Regulation concerns  SA Tourism Marketing challenge  BARSA CEO present at National Stakeholder Forum Chaired by Director General of Tourism on 18 September 2015

9 NATIONAL CONSUMER COMMISSION AND CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT  South Africa on IATA watch-list  Legal Advisor meeting – 30 September  Draft code – IATA provided input and comment  Attorney to revise the document and incorporate IATA comments  IATA thinks the South African Code with further review, could be held up as a model for other Countries

10 BROAD-BASED BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT  BARSA B-BBEE Foreign Airlines meeting – 29 June 2015  On the 20 th September BARSA Chairperson and CEO met with IATA:  Hussein Dabbas – Senior Vice President, Africa and the Middle East  Adefunke Adeyemi – Regional Head, Africa and the Middle east  Jan D`Sa – Area Manager, Southern Africa  IATA/BARSA/ Foreign Airlines meeting – 6 October 2015 – not all members were present

11 BROAD-BASED BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT (Continued)  BARSA to play support role  BBB-EE Sub-Committee formed consisting of some airlines present at the meeting on 6 th October.  Sub-Committee Conference call on the 23 rd October 2015

12 SKILLS DEVELOPMENT UPDATE  SETA’s (Sector Education and Training Authorities) are to be re-established for another two years pending legislative changes required to implement the new proposed system;  Thereafter SETAs to be called SETABs – Sector Education and Training Advisory Boards established under the Dept. of Higher Education and Training.  Greater portion of Skills Development Levies to be directed to National Skills Fund.  Ability to access funding will be restricted to SAQA accredited with tuition mostly by public institutions.

13 SKILLS DEVELOPMENT UPDATE (Continued)  Levy now being driven towards government entities and tuition based on national priorities.  Becoming more like a ”skills tax”’ rather than a ‘’skills levy’  Legislative changes under discussion

14 SLOT COORDINATION COMMITTEE OF SOUTH AFRICA  SCCSA is a statutory committee  BARSA is a member  Monitor Slot Compliance  Respond to Slot Coordinator with delay reasons  Members urged to comply with Slots allocated  Risk of losing slots due to non-compliance and possible fines

15 CLIMATE CHANGE/GHG EMISSIONS  ICAO working on Global Solution  IATA Market Based Measures Workshop – 13 October 2015  Airlines to report Emissions at their Countries of origin  Domestic Carbon Taxes to be introduced in 2016 in South Africa  BARSA to continue monitoring the situation

16 AIRLINE MEDIA RELEASES  BARSA request  Airlines to add BARSA on their media release distribution list  Airline Media releases to be added on BARSA website
