MATH CURSE By Miss Lambert’s Fourth Grade Class

On Monday ~ Mrs. Fibonacci said, “You know, you can think of almost everything as a Math problem.” I began to see Math problems everywhere!

The problems started when I woke up. Will I get to school on time? ► This morning I got up at 7:00 am. It takes me 5 minutes to take a shower. Two minutes to get dressed. Ten minutes to eat breakfast. School starts at 8:15. Will I be on time?

Answer Will I get to school on time? ► 7:00 Get up. ► 7:05 5 min. to get dressed. ► 7:07 2 minutes to shower. ► 7:17 10 minutes to eat breakfast. ► I will get to school on time with 43 extra minutes.

Getting Dressed I have 10 sweater vests but 2 don’t fit me. My mom bought me 4 more sweater vests. How many do I have now?

Answer 110-2+4=12 II have 12 vests now.

What to wear? I have 5 brown shirts, 10 blue shirts, 15 red shirts, 1 purple shirt, 3 pink shirts and 2 green ones, How many do I have all together?

Answer 36 shirts If I combine each vest with a shirt how many different combinations of sweaters and vests can I make?

The Class Room Today our class paired up in groups of twos. to partner read. There are 27 kids in the classroom. How many pairs are there?

Answer The Classroom There are 13 pairs and one student without a partner. 27/2 = 13 R1 The problem was that I was the student without a partner!

An Art Story Problem 1. Hailey had 32 crayons. 2. Odalis had 18 crayons. 3. Hailey gave her 20 crayons. 4. How many does Odalis have now.

Math answer Odalis now has 38 crayons. Question ~ How many crayons does it take to do an art project?

Briana had twenty-four flowers. She gave Pauline some of them. She had eleven left. How many did she give Pauline?

Lunch We ordered two boxes of pizza. One box of pizza costs $9.50. We also ordered two liters of soda. They cost $1.25 each. How much did it cost in all?

Answer: Lunch $$9.50+ $9.50 + $1.25 + $1.25 = $21.50 IIf I pay for it with a ten and a twenty dollar bills how much change would I get back? $10 + $20 - $21.50 = $8.50

Problem Jason has 37 cars. I have 25 cars. How many more does Jason have?

After school activity Football Zach has 29 football games. He missed 12 football games. How many games did he play? Zach has 29 football games. He missed 12 football games. How many games did he play? 17 17

Problem Kim has 20 gum balls. She gave 6 of them to Hailey and she gave some of them to Shyann. She has 6 left. How many did she give to Shyann?

Subtraction We got $300 dollars to shop for what ever we want, We bought clothes and spent $30 dollars, We bought shoes and spent $20 dollars, We ate some food and spent $14 dollars, How much money do we have left?

PROBLEM I had $300 dollars in the bank. I let my brother borrow $100 dollars. I had $200 dollars left. My mom needed $165 dollars. How much do I have left?

PROBLEM I have $10. My mother gave me $5. I spent $3 on ice cream. Then I had $12. I wanted to buy a video game. If the game costs $29 dollars how much do I need?

My dad runs a car shop. He had 56 cars. He sold 19. Then some new cars came in so he had 65 cars. How many new cars came in that day? My Dad’s Cars
