J.K. Rowling Joanne Kathleen Rowling is the best-selling author. She writes books for children, but adults like them ,too. Joanne was born on the 31/th of July, 1965 in Gloucestershire, England. Her parents ,Joan Peter James Rowling and Anne Volant, met, when they were in the same compartment of the London train to Arbroth, on the "Kings Cross“station.On the 14th of March, 1965, they were married in the parish(приходской) church of All Saints in North London in Tufnell Park. After the wedding ,in 1965, they settled in the north-eastern suburbs of Bristol( in Yeyt ,in Gloucestershire), where Peter got a job.

Childhood When Joan was 4 years old, the family moved to the village Vinterborn. There she and her sister played with a girl and a boy by the surname of Potter. Mother gave all her time to her daughters. Ann loved reading books for children. By five years Joanna knew almost all the children's books by heart. At the age of six, she showed her mother the first story about the adventures of a rabbit called Rabbit.

Joanne’s youth ages When Joanne was 9 her family moved to Tutshill.
At high school her favorite subject was English. At university Rowling took her degree in French and spent one year studying in Paris. After college she moved to London to work as a secretary, but her dream was to become a writer and Joanne never stopped writing. One day , during a long train trip in summer of 1990 the idea came to her about a boy , who is wizard and doesn’t know about it.

The price for the dream In 1992, at age of 26, Joan went to Portugal to teach English. She gave lessons in the afternoon and in the evening , but in the morning she was writing. At that time, she began to work on her third novel (the first two were thrown as "very bad"). The new book was about a boy, who discovered that he was a wizard, and attended the magic school. At the same time her private life was unhappy. She divorsed(развелась) and returned to Britain with her baby and a suitcase full of notes and chapters(главы)about Harry Potter.

In Edinburgh, Joanne went to write "Harry Potter" in the cafe "Nikolsons", the owner of which was her sister’s husband. Scottish Arts Council gave her a grant to finish the book , and she eventually sold the book "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (publisher "Bloomsbury“)

Bibliography The first novel was followed by "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (1998), "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (1999), "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (2000), "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" (2003), " Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince "(2005). The seventh and final novel series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and released in the UK and U.S. as well as in several other countries in 2007.

Worldwide fame A series of Harry Potter novels translated into more than 60 languages. Throughout the world, selling more than 400 million copies of books. The success of the series among readers, as well as movies, based on the novel, has brought Rowling worldwide fame and fortune. Since 2004, JK Rowling is the richest woman in Britain. On December 4, 2008, a new book of JK Rowling's “Tales of Beedle the Bard“ appeared in the bookstores in 25 countries. However, the " Tales of Beedle the Bard " does not put the end to “ potteriane”. According to Rowling, she also plans to write an encyclopedia on all parts of the novel.
