About Lexicalization Fingerspellings ASL will borrow words from the English Language and incorporate them in its sign vocabulary. This process takes place in ASL through the use of lexicalized fingerspelled loan signs. Typically, you would just almost drop or skip the vowel letters (a, e, i, o, u) when lexicalized fingerspelling. Example: B – U – S When you lexicalized fingerspelling a word, you should do it in quick pace.
