4. 4 Status of Implementation Plan (2nd Phase) Department of Soil Science Weaknesses identifiedAction taken  Inadequate teaching staff with specialization in Soil Physics, Soil survey and Environmental Sciences.  Appointment of one Assistant Professor has been done.  Shortage of non-teaching technical/non-technical staff for the department.  Request for appointment of other teaching staff has been submitted to competent authority.  Lack of equipments in some labs especially, soil physics soil microbiology and soil mineralogy.  One Lab. Assistant, One lab. Attendant, one Helper has been appointed. However, the request for appointment of Lab. Technician has been sent to competent authority.  Lack of research publications in International Repute Journals.  Research paper has been submitted to reputed journals.  Lack of latest books for the departmental library.  Four books were purchased for library.  Shortage of subscribed research journals.  Lack of computer lab for the students.  Lack of personnel safety and fire fighting equipments.  Fire fighting cylinder has been installed at the department. Other actions are in progress.
