15 14 NEGATIVE with the verb TO BE 1.4. Verb “to be” (am, is, are) Jenny is not a teacher. Jenny isn’t a teacher. (She is a student.) Henrietta and Abdullah are not teachers. Henrietta and Abdullah aren’t teachers. (They are students.) I am not a student. RULE: is + not = isn’t but are + not = aren’t am and not are not contracted!
