Slope (Finding it from a graph.)
2
Key Idea : Slope of a line is a ratio of change in y (the rise) to the change in x (the run) between any two points. Slope can increase, decrease, or stay the same. Remember to read the graph from left to right when identifying what type of slope it is.
3
Identify the type of slope for each of the following: (increasing, decreasing, zero, or undefined.)
4
The equation of a line can be represented as: is the ________. is the __________________. (where it crosses the ___-axis)
5
Example 1: Identify the slope and the y- intercept of the following lines. Slope y-intercept
6
Slope Slope Slope y-intercept y-intercept y-intercept
7
Finding the slope from a graph: Slope is This means we _____________ first (___-axis) and then ____________ (___- axis) Always keep slope as a fraction! (reduced)
8
Example 2: Find the slope of the line in the following graph.
9
Example 3: Find the slope of the line in the following graph.
