Introduction A safe and healthy workplace is very important either to employer or employees. This is because a safe and healthy workplace will lead to the successful of the organization. Nowadays, there are so many accidents happen in the workplace. The employer and also employees should take precaution to maintain their safe and health in the workplace.

Definition Safety The condition of being free from harm or risk.(Merriam-Webster) Security The quality or state of being free from danger. Healthy A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Workplace health and safety (WHS) is an area concerned with the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance. In Malaysia, this act established in 1994. This act provide legislative framework to secure the safety and healthy and also welfare among Malaysian workers. It also promote, stimulate the higher standard of safety and healthy.

Rights and responsibilities under OSHA law Employers must do Inform workers about chemical hazards through training, labels, alarms, color- coded systems, chemical information sheets and other methods. Provide safety training to workers in a language and vocabulary they can understand. Keep accurate records of work-related injuries and illnesses Perform tests in the workplace, such as air sampling, required by some OSHA standards. Post OSHA citations and annually post injury and illness summary data where workers can see them Employees have right to Working conditions that do not pose a risk of serious harm. Receive information and training about hazards, methods to prevent harm, and the OSHA standards that apply to their workplace Receive copies of records of work- related injuries and illnesses that occur in their workplace. Receive copies of the results from tests and monitoring done to find and measure hazards in their workplace. Receive copies of their workplace medical records

Conclusion As an employer, you must take ‘all practicable steps’ to ensure the safety of your employees while they are at work. This includes your workplace plus any other sites, such as building, farming or forestry sites, where they do work for you. Taking 'all practicable steps' means thinking about the ways that someone could be harmed and doing what is reasonably practicable to ensure the safety of that person.
