2. What do we need to learn? Outcome 303-31 identify and explain the dangers of electricity at work or play. Outcome 106 -4 describe examples of how our knowledge of the hazards of electrical shock has led to the development of electrical safety features.

3. Hazards  Electricity is one of the most useful forms of energy but it can be very dangerous if it isn’t used properly.  It can cause fires.  I can cause electrical shocks.

4. Water and electricity  Water and electricity don’t mix. Electricity can travel through water. IF your hands are wet or if you are standing on a wet floor do not touch an electricity switch or use an electric device.  If you want to use a radio in the bathroom, use a battery powered one – it doesn’t use enough electricity to harm you.

5. Where does electricity belong?  Keep electricity where it belongs – in wires and in devices. IF the cords are frayed or cracked, repair them. Do not unplug devices by pulling the cord.

6. Overload  Think before you plug a lot of things into an outlet. Is there another outlet you can use ?Plugging to many devices into one socket can blow a fuse or even start a fire.
