create l cre – ate l If you create something, you make something that hasn’t been made before. l She likes to create vases from clay. l My dad creates delicious new recipes for dinner. l The new grocery store will create many new jobs for people.

inspect l in - spect l When you inspect something, you look at it very carefully. l Mom will inspect my room after I clean it to make sure I did a good job. l You should inspect clothes before you buy them to make sure they are well-made.

angle l an – gle l The way you look at something is the angle from which you see it. l The seats were on the side at a bad angle, so we couldn’t see the screen very well. l People look at things from a different angle.

Context Clues l There are strategies when you come across words you don’t understand. l You can look in a dictionary or glossary.

Context Clues l Sometimes we can get the meaning from word parts. You may understand the base word and prefix (unmade, not made) or two shorter words in a compound (snowman, a man made of snow). l You can look for context clues in the words and sentences around the unknown word. l Today we will learn more about using context clues.

Using Commas l Commas are used in addresses. Commas should be placed between the names of cities and states. l Commas are used in dates. l Commas are used after the greeting and closing in a letter. l Commas are used to separate three or more things in a list.
