2
ATP ATP is a universal energy currency found in all types of organisms. Glycolysis, cellular respiration and photosynthesis are the 3 main sources of ATP.
3
Glycolysis The initial step of glucose metabolism occurs in the cytosol of the cell. Glucose is converted to pyruvate by 10 water soluble enzymes.

Fermentation - Anaerobic metabolism

ATP synthesis using proton motive force F 1 (ATPase) portion of the complex is responsible for ATP production F 0 portion acts as a proton channel.

Conclusion ATP is the universal energy of all organisms. Glycolysis – the initial step in glucose metabolism – yields 2 ATP, 2 NADH, and 2 pyruvate molecules. Fermentation is the further metabolism of pyruvate in the absence of oxygen. Cellular respiration consists of the further metabolism of glucose in the presence of oxygen through the citric acid cycle. The electron transport chain produces a proton gradient which drives the production of ATP by the F 0 F 1 complex.
