Space Science: explore the earth, moon, and sun- skills include measuring, predicting, estimation 4. Properties of Matter: volume, mass, & density Organization- Folder, notebook, and computer files will be used to save papers and information. 1.Anthology offers complex short stories which focus on comprehension skills and strategies 2.Stories will be read with guided instruction as a whole group or small group, or independently 3.Leveled readers (below level, on level, above level) 4.A variety of genres – fiction and nonfiction 5.Emphasis on fluency, expression, phrasing, vocabulary, comprehension and written responses to literature 6.Assessment after each story 7. All spelling work is to be completed in spelling composition book. Advanced Math: Curriculum is aligned with Common Core standards. We will progress through 5 th grade standards at a faster pace, while incorporating 6 th grade standards. During the fourth marking period, our focus will be primarily 6 th grade standards.
