3 © 2015 albert-learning.com Titanic RMS (Royal Mail Ship) Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning of 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, UK to New York City, US. The sinking resulted in the loss of more than 1,500 passengers and crew making it one of the deadliest disasters in modern history.

7 © 2015 albert-learning.com Titanic About Movie :  Titanic is a 1997 American epic romantic disaster drama film directed, written, co-produced, and co-edited by James Cameron.  It stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as members of different social classes who fall in love in the ship during its ill-fated maiden voyage.  The film was partially funded by Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox; at the time, it was the most expensive film ever made, with an estimated budget of $200 million.  Upon its release on December 19, 1997, Titanic achieved critical and commercial success.

8 © 2015 albert-learning.com Titanic  Nominated for fourteen Academy Awards, it tied All About Eve (1950) for the most Oscar nominations, and won eleven, including the awards for Best Picture and Best Director, tying Ben Hur (1959) for the most Oscars won by a single film.  With an initial worldwide gross of over $1.84 billion, Titanic was the first film to reach the billion-dollar mark.  A 3D version of Titanic, released on April 4, 2012, earned it an additional $343.6 million worldwide, pushing the film's worldwide total to $2.18 billion.  It became the second film to gross more than $2 billion worldwide (after Avatar)
