1 Roman Catholics view to Abortion/Human Life By Afroza Shamsudin, Laura Blatter, Georgie Stevens, Olivia Foster, Natasha Sapsford, Anna Green and Lizzie Mckenzie

2 When does human life begin? Roman Catholics believe that the human life begins at conception. Conception is when the man’s Sperm reaches the Woman's Ovum. At conception the human life’s DNA is decided.

3 Is human life special, and if so why? Roman Catholics believe that human life is special. Roman Catholics see life as a Gift from God. The Sanctity of life. 1.Life is God Given 2.Life is Precious 3.Life is Respected. 4.Life is Planned 5.Life should not be destroyed. Roman Catholics look up to the sanctity of life. They see the sanctity of life as the guidelines of their religion.

4 What is their attitude towards abortion? Roman Catholics believe that all abortion is morally wrong. They believe human life begins from the moment of conception, so therefore termination is viewed as murder of a human life. They believe that having an abortion is the same as killing an innocent person on the streets.

5 Are there circumstances when abortion is permitted? 1869 – Pope Pius IX declared that all abortions were murder as human life began at conception. 1930 – Catholic Church decided that it was not a sin if the woman was suffering from a life threatening illness.

6 What alternatives, if any, do they have to abortion? There are a few alternatives because the Roman Catholics are very anti abortion. Below are the alternatives for having an abortion: 1.The mother and the child will receive every moment of care and attention. 2.They will get lots of help : money, clothes etc. 3.The mother could put the child up for adoption.
