Aim: How accurate is our image of Africa? Do Now: Write down 5 words you associate with Africa. Africa I come from an island near Africa. Where my blood has flown in vanilla, chocolate and cinnamon. I felt the heat of Africa, the sun’s heat of raging fire. I have touched the rain of Africa, the sweetest sound of thunderstorm. I have seen the girls of Africa, with intelligence and a beauty unimaginable. I have dance the music of Africa, around the fireplace with the beating drums. I have sung the songs of Africa and heard children’s laugher echoing among the trees. I have swam in the most treasured blue lagoon of Africa, where mermaids hides beneath Eden’s rocks. I have beat the drums of Africa, a rhythm divine for the whole of Africa to hear – “Ek het jou lief Africa! ! ! ! ! ” – I love you Africa. I have seen the passion of Africa, in man’s eyes blue, green and brown and black. I long to go back home, where the drums rhythm so divine, and I will sing along, My home, my land – “ Ek het jou liet Africa! ! ! ! – I love you Africa.
