Model Paragraphs. what to do... a) For each paragraph, highlight the part which answers the what question, the part which answers the how question and the part which answers the why question. Use different colours if you can. WHAT is the point you have to make? (an impression you have about a character or theme) HOW does the author use language devices to create the above impression? WHY has the author created this impression?

1. Write down quotes regarding Slim. Page 42 2. Choose one of the quotes you have copied down for your chosen character. 3. Write your own WHAT-HOW-WHY paragraph about the character you have chosen. What to do... Peer Assess: 1.Exchange with your partner. 2.Highlight the part which answers the what question, the part which answers the how question and the part which answers the why question. Use different colours if you can. 3.For each A.O (to the right), write a brief explanation as to whether or not it has been fulfilled in each paragraph. Give your partner and comment on the strengths of his/her paragraph. WHAT is the point you have to make?
