Wind Turbines By Stas Nantze
2
Wind Turbine Converts wind into electricity to power buildings.
3
Countries that use Wind Turbines
The United States uses wind turbines the most. 2nd most is India Followed by Germany and France.
4
Benefits of Wind Turbines
Countries like the United States use wind turbines for clean energy. They also power thousands of building in the country. Wind turbines work best in places with a lot of wind such as near an Ocean.
5
Cost of Wind Turbines Big turbines are usually between $1.3-$2.2 million. Small turbines that can be used to power a large house cost between $50,000-$90,000. (or more)
6
Advantage of Wind Turbines
Wind turbines provide clean energy that doesn’t give off green house gases and other pollutants.
7
Advantage of Wind Turbines
Many people find wind farms an interesting feature of the landscape.
8
Advantage of Wind Turbines
The wind is free and with modern technology it can be captured efficiently.
9
Disadvantage of Wind Turbines
Kills many birds.
10
Disadvantage of Wind Turbines
The strength of the wind is not constant and it varies from zero to storm force. This means that wind turbines do not produce the same amount of electricity all the time. There will be times when they produce no electricity at all.
11
Disadvantage of Wind Turbines
Wind turbines are noisy. Each one can generate the same level of noise as a family car travelling at 70 mph.
12
Wind Turbines in Texarkana
Texarkana shouldn’t use wind turbines because… It would cost too much money to power the whole city. Each turbine costs over 1 million dollars. It would kill many birds that fly through Texarkana Not enough wind to work efficiently
