What Our Customers Told Us Securing Your Business Security is top concern Spam & viruses compromising email Mobile devices becoming common Users want ubiquitous access iWorker Demands Rising IT costs & shrinking budgets Email is mission critical Administrative Challenges

Exchange Server 2003 Investments Exchange 2003 Investments Protection against spam Greater security High availability Best experience with Outlook 2003 Improved remote & mobile access Support for mobile devices Simplified migration Site & server consolidation Easier & less costly administration

SP2 Improvements Improved mobile email Enhanced Outlook Mobile with Direct Push Support for device policy provisioning Device and message security Improved spam protection Integrated Intelligent Message Filter (IMF) Identify and block more spam types Support for SenderID Improved mailbox fundamentals Offline Address Book (OAB) performance Public Folder management and controls 75 GB standard store limit SP2 Improvements

Improved Mobile E-Mail Improved mobile Outlook experience Reduced bandwidth and latency (GZIP) “Push” email solution Wireless sync includes mail, calendar, contacts, tasks Global address book (GAL) lookup New policy provisioning for devices Device password restrictions Local device “wipe” Additional device and message security Certificate authentication S/MIME Remote device “wipe”

Policy Provisioning Administration Require PIN lock Strength requirements Local wipe after n failed attempts

Web Admin for Remote Wipe/Log Web administration Administrator can “delegate” access to helpdesk Transaction log for tracking history Remote Wipe

Remote Wipe Web Admin UI Mark a device for “wipe” As device connects, “wipe” command is sent Device acknowledges command and deletes the store

Device Availability Windows Mobile 5.0 Enterprise Feature Pack (EFP) will shipped with Windows Mobile 5.0 AKU2 Devices already in Market : by EFP Image Update AKU2 Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE OEM decision Palm Treo 650 Official License from Microsoft Nokia Symbian Third-party e.g. RoadSync

Updates to Integrated Intelligent Message Filter (IMF) Anti-Phishing support Support for SenderID Improved Spam Protection spam

Anti-Phishing The new SmartScreen anti-phishing technology Phishing Confidence Level (PCL) More info: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/se curity/email/phishing.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/athome/se curity/email/phishing.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/athome/se curity/email/phishing.mspx spam

Sender ID Sender sets mail servers ’ IP Addresses in DNS E-mail server checks sender ’ s IP Address against DNS record for sender ’ s domain Sender ID status is set on message Exchange 2003 SP2 can be configured to check SPF records, take action against mail from spoofed domains Identifies “ phishing ” and “ spoofing ” mail More info: http://www.microsoft.com/senderid

Improved Mailbox Fundamentals Standard Edition: 16G  75G storage limit Improved offline address book performance Public folder management and controls Connection controls and migration MAPI, Cached mode connection enforcement Supported GroupWise 6.x connector/migration tools

Cached Mode OAB Performance Excessive, large OAB downloads impact cache mode performance and benefits Causes: Administrator action can cause company-wide full OAB downloads Incremental OAB downloads are too large OAB indices generated in the server language can block site consolidations New OAB format (v4) Removed cases triggering unnecessary OAB full downloads Binary differential format for smaller differential files OAB index creation moved to client Differential files will be much smaller Microsoft: ~ 30% size reduction in full OAB Requirements: Outlook 2003 SP2 or later

Public Folder Management Better replica and permissions management Customer Issue: Few administrator tasks for PF management New wizard enables change for an entire folder subtree Safe Removal of Servers and Public Stores Customer Issue: Removal of certain servers or public stores may break functionality or result in data loss New wizard to easily move all PF content off a server Prevent administrators from removing running servers or public stores containing PF data Folder Deletion Logging Customer Issue: No way to find out who deleted a public folder Event logs now identify the mailbox and Windows account that deleted a public folder

Available Now Exchange Server Roadmap Future Exchange 2003 & Continuing Investments Exchange Server 2003 Exchange 2003 SP1 Anti-Spam Filter: IMF Best Practices Analyzer v2 Management Pack for MOM 2005 Web Release 1.2 Storage sizing assistance SMTP configuration diagnosis Exchange 12 Manage cost & complexity out of the system Enable end users to get more value from their inboxes at work and away Secure, protect and comply Late 2006/Early 2007 Later in 2005 Service Pack 2 Improved mobile email Anti-spam improvements Improved mailbox fundamentals Second half of 2005
