A Map is a visual representation usually on a flat surface of the whole or a part of an area.

A Title is a descriptive or general heading (as of a chapter in a book) or the heading that names something All maps have a title so that a person knows what the topic or what information is being shown by the map

All maps will have a key or a legend that explains what the different symbols on the map mean.

A Compass Rose is a figure displaying the orientation of the cardinal directions, north, south, east and west on a map or nautical chart.

Intermediate Directions - The points of the compass that fall between north and east, north and west, south and east, and south and west (e.g., NE, NW, SE, and SW).

A Scale is defined as the relationship between a distance measured on the map and the true distance on the ground or the size of an area on a map as compared with the area's actual size

All world maps have distortion. Distortion – A change in the accuracy of shapes or distances.
