4. Conflict  A Struggle between opposing forces  Man vs. Man  Man vs. Nature  Man vs. Fate  Man Vs. Society  Man vs. Self

5. Characterization The creation of the image of imaginary persons in drama, poetry, the novel, and the short story. Characterization generates plot and is revealed by the actions, speech, thoughts, physical appearance, and the other characters’ thoughts about him.
