2 Definition of Title I: Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk of falling behind. Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of student receiving free/reduced lunch.

3 Pine Hill Middle operates a Title I School-wide Program Effective Fall 2015

4 Schoolwide means: The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement. Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.

5 To be a “Schoolwide” School: The school must collect and analyze data that effects student achievement. The school must develop a comprehensive site plan and annually review the effectiveness of the plan. The school must actively seek input from parents in the process of school improvement.

9 Parent Involvement Policy Title I is a federally funded program and the government mandates that Pine Hill Middle School), which is a Title I school must have a policy that involves parents. In Title I schools, parental input is welcomed to express how the school functions. The policy comes under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965. It provides assistance to improve the education of children due to the change of income status; loss of job, elderly, and grandparents raising children with no reliable income, enabling those children to meet state academic content and performance standards. The policy establishes the school’s expectations for parental involvement activities and describes how the school will implement the activities and it is to be incorporated into the school’s plan that is submitted to the local educational agency (LEA).

10 School-Parent Compact The School Compact is a written mutual agreement between the student, parent, and teacher that will strengthen the cohesiveness at Pine Hill Middle School. The compact will help build capacity between the school, home, and the community. In order to make it work, the compact is designed to get feedback from parents, students, and the teachers.

11 School Surveys Surveys are meant to gather information that is geared to provide feedback to improve services to provided for students and parents. Parents have a voice in what is done in the school and when the parents respond, the school knows what direction can be taken to achieve the maximum compatibility between home and community. When a survey is given, please send back your feedback. This will help the school provide needed services for the students and parents. Survey electronically available and computer lab open tonight.

12 Parent’s Right to Know – Student Achievement Awaiting Georgia Milestones- parent results will sent home when they are distributed to schools. State of the School – Posted on website and hard copy near front entrance of school. The information is update as data comes available. I-Ready Screeners Math and Reading (testing now)

13 Parent’s Right to Know – Non-Highly Qualified Teachers Schools are required to notify parents if their child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher that is not highly qualified. Staff at Pine Hill Middle School is 100% HiQ.

17 Right to Request Meetings Upon the request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. The school must respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible. Conferences can be schedule through school guidance department
