13 What is it all really? The ICAP, or Academic Plan of Study is a process that students participate in, which results in an actual plan. Process: Developmentally appropriate grade level required and recommended activities Plan: 1.Student’s career cluster or pathway goal 2.Relevancy of student’s goal to post secondary institution / workforce or other future option 3.Student’s four-year high school plan (some use 6-year), including courses, extracurricular & CE options Utilizing: Aligned content standards of ASCA National Model & CTE, core curriculums, CDE, existing, available “village” and college, career & academic planning tools and resources ICAP = A TOOL FOR HAVING CONVERSATIONS ABOUT CAREERS AND GOALS

14 Future Intentions: Your students’ top Career Cluster & known Pathway – (have a “career chat”; “tell me more about your ICAP?”) Ultimate Goals: Learning = Academic Earning = Career Living = Personal/ Social (CTE Standards and utilizing Plans of Study) Classes: Their secondary intentional course sequence related to the PS courses available – CE/ASCENT & CTSO opportunities taken into consideration when advising Connections between what Advisors, Counselors, Educators, PS providers, and Parents do to assist their students ultimate goal achievement. Also – relevancy of learning : (answers “why do we have to do this?” & “how will this help me?”) “A Village Raises a Student” PWR – Postsecondary Workforce Readiness: the (w)holistic student. That means extra-curricular & life experience too (our Plans of Study)! Integrated into curriculum, advisement, conversations, & school culture, campus options, leadership opportunities through CTSO & relevancy for life! Accountability: Understanding and progress towards securing Financial Aid = Financial Literacy And it is student owned!
