18. Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy statement April 22, 2005 Des Moines— Governor Vilsack signed Executive Order Number 41 today directing state agencies to improve upon their current practices of conserving energy. Among other things, the Order requires at least ten percent of agencies’ electric consumption come from renewable energy resources; that they purchase alternative fuel or hybrid-electric vehicles for 100 percent of their non-law enforcement light duty fleet and increase their usage of bulk diesel fuel.
