In experiments the independent variable is the thing that is changed. The dependent variable is the outcome that we measure. It responds to changes made to the independent variable. Will soaking seeds in water prior to planting make them germinate or sprout faster? Does the amount of sunlight a planted seed gets effect how fast it germinates or sprouts? Does the cost of a laundry detergent matter when it comes to how well it works at cleaning clothes? REVIEW

Most experiments have more than one controlled variable. Some people refer to controlled variables as "constant variables.“ For example, if I wanted to test the effect of sunlight on plant growth, then the only thing which I would change in my experiment is the amount of sunlight the plants received (INDEPENDENT VARIABLE). The difference between a control group and an experimental group is one group is exposed to the conditions of the experiment and the other is not. You’re leading a research team. Your team developed a new cancer drug which has less side effects than current chemotherapy drugs on the market. You must conduct a study to prove this Group A will not get the new drug. You work for an engineering company that builds weapons for the military. You are assigned to a research and development team that has a 5 billion dollar contract with the United States Army to build tactical assault cannons. Your specialty is projectiles.
