Reading or spelling speed n Reading Speed: u Reading speed can be adjusted in all reading exercises, except for when reading speed is determined. u Reading speed is measured in words per minute. u Reading speed is not dependant on the speed of the computer. u The program keeps record of reading speed of each completed exercise. u Reading speed can be controlled by the user, parent or facilitator. n Flash-or Spelling speed: u Flash speed is measured in milliseconds. u Words or phrases are flashed on the screen for a set time. The user must then type the correct word or phrase on the keyboard. u Different exercises are influenced by flash speed, i.e. flash words and flash phrase exercises, as well as most of the games. u Flash exercises can also be utilized as memory and concentration exercises.

Test Reading Speed n The Program starts off with this exercise: u This exercise sets the tempo at which the reader should start their exercises. u Once the reader’s ability has been established, the reading speed can be adjusted accordingly. u The reader’s reading skills can now be developed by applying the different reading techniques. n This exercise should also be done at the end of the program: u After completion of a range of exercises, the above exercise should be repeated to establish an improvement in the reader’s reading skills. u In the leaner mode, the results of reading exercises and comprehension tests can be viewed by the user as graphs. u In the teacher mode, the teacher can view all learners results as well as print a report for each learner.
