Regulatory Fitness and Performance Programme (REFIT) Launched in December 2012 in the context of smart regulation Goal: simplifying EU law, reducing unnecessary regulatory burden and contributing to a clear, stable & predictable regulatory framework Different measures: Legislative actions: amendments and consolidations Repeals and withdrawals Evaluations and fitness checks Scoreboard (latest: 18 June 2014) REFIT programme

Comprehensive policy evaluations, assessing whether the regulatory framework for a policy sector is fit for purpose Identifying excessive regulatory burden, overlaps, gaps, inconsistencies, obsolete measures, etc. Assessing effectiveness, efficiency, coherence, relevance and EU added value of the legislative framework Fitness checks
