HWOL Data Source Web-based job advertisements in all the major job boards (USDOL national job bank, Monster, CareerBuilder, Commonwealth of Massachusetts etc), Craig’s List is included in Hiring Dashboard Jobs recruited by One-Stop Career Centers Company websites (the tool “crawls” to private sector websites to grab jobs) Accuracy? New LMI capacity/less regulated, expect duplicates, online bias, NAICS limited etc Nothing replaces a conversation with an employer. This is a dart board.

Products & Uses Employer Outreach
Downloads for Hiring Reports (arrow button on any dashboard table): Customized: Employers with largest number of openings Occupations with largest number of openings Florida report Talent Sourcing Report (under “Jobs” Tab) Staff Job Opening Alerts (under “Jobs Tab”) Regional Partnerships
8
Employer Outreach How is this tool relevant to employers?
The DASHBOAD TOOL is not intended for direct employer access. A staff person who is working with employers may want to use the tool in the following ways: Providing information to employers on other employers in their industry in the region. Providing information on an occupation that an employer is looking to fill (What are the average job ads like? What education requirements? What specific skills are asked for?) Business Service Representatives may want to use it to identify employers for recruitment purposes. Review the companies with the most job ads? Review companies in an industry that are posting ads? Setup “alerts” in the system to flag when employers in their region post new ads and then outreach to the employer. (Franklin Hampshire best practice)
9
Hiring Reports Any of the tables on the dashboard can be downloaded to tables to generate report. Example: Radiology Tech ( ) Dashboard: Set the filters (geography, occupation, employer? keyword?) Download tables Customize report “Jobs Tab” report tools: Set Filters(geography, occupation, employer? keyword?) Talent Sourcing Report –”Generate Report” (demo) “export” tool – excel spreadsheet (demo)
10
Alerts SIMPLE: Go to “Jobs” tab, set filters – click “alerts” and add addresses. Example: Franklin Hampshire Career Centers Alerts to (WIA) Job Counselor or job seekers using a set of search parameters and scheduled weekly alerts Filters: GEOGRAPHY: Immediate geographic area (Franklin/Hampshire) plus a major neighboring city (Holyoke) EDUCATION: filter to only show us jobs up to an Associate’s degree (as we also work with Trade customers) JOB TYPE: hose full-time and permanent jobs (to try to exclude temp and part-time) The excel file has the potential to be a strong tool for case mangers as you are able to extract job posting summaries along with a direct link to the actual job posting.

Strategy & Regional Partnerships
North Shore WIB & Operation Bootstrap: WIB provided Operation Bootstrap information on job openings within the manufacturing industry to communicate information to their customers. Report filtered by education filters (HS Dipolma & below), Geographic (Essex County), and Industry (Manufacturing NAICS 31-33). Job count results were tabulated in Excel and given to Operation Bootstrap. Operation Bootstrap helped customers to: understand where jobs were located, who was hiring, and what occupations were currently in demand Use information in making job search and training decisions

Education & Training Pathways
Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium grant: Question: Decision to focus on mechanical, electrical training or offer both. Solution: USED HWOL to review existing manufacturing jobs available that require mechanical or electrical training as a pathway to employment. Search criteria: using the following filters Geographic (Northeast of MA (North Shore WIA, Merrimack Valley, Greater Lowell WIA, Metro North WIA)), Educational Attainment (Associates degree or less), and Occupational title (manually selected SOC codes to which were related to the training). Compared the results for both Mechanical and Electronic based skills and found them to have a similar number of openings. RESULTS: The HWOL results, along with employer surveys and employer conversations created a training program that incorporated both electrical and mechanical skill sets.
