Mission The mission of the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Commission is to provide diverse, year round opportunities by creating and providing recreation, leisure and community services necessary to promote and improve the overall quality of life for the citizens of Jefferson County, West Virginia.

Overview The Jefferson County Parks & Recreation Commission is a non-profit organization. Made up of a 11 member volunteer board, appointed by the Jefferson County Commission 6 Full Time Staff 100 + part-time, seasonal, contracted staff

Overview Significant Facts Grown from 7 to 10 parks since 2002 Own and/or Manage 9 County Parks and operate Morgan’s Grove Park, which is owned by the Shepherdstown Community Club 371 Acres 5 Miles of Trails 25 + Partner Organizations 8,000 Participants in JCPRC Programs 300 + Programs Over 10,00 visitors to parks each year

Programs Program Growth Since 2002, the JCPRC has expanded program offerings from 50 programs to over 300 programs to residents of Jefferson County. Since 2009, the JCPRC has seen an increase in new family participation of about 1000 participants.

Future The JCPRC future goals and objectives include completing a Master Plan for the county park system by 2014. The JCPRC completed a 5 year Capital Improvement Plan in 2012 to prioritize projects and goals for the Department. 5 Year CIP System Wide Needs Assessment Park Master Plan Community Center Phase II (Gymnasium) Indoor Swimming Pool Land Acquisition Development of Hite Road Park
