All the Sacramental Preparation lessons in Primary 4 draw from the core learning in “This is Our Faith” for Primary 4.

Sacrament of First Eucharist Themes Lesson1: We rejoice in God’s Creation Focus here is giving thanks to God for Creation and on Christ the head of all creation.

Sacrament of First Eucharist Themes Lesson 2: Belonging to Family and Church: Called by name…. Focus: We belong to the family of the Church and we begin our faith journey at Baptism. Sacraments of Initiation- Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. What begins at Baptism is fulfilled when we receive the Eucharist in First Holy Communion and will be strengthened and deepened when we receive the Sacrament of Confirmation later on.

Sacrament of First Eucharist Themes Lesson 3: The Passover, Lord’s Supper and Eucharist Focus: Children will be looking more closely at the core learning which refers to Passover, Lord’s Supper and Eucharist. All elements of Passover and Eucharist take place in the context of family and a believing community/Church.

Sacrament of First Eucharist Themes Lesson 4: Preparing to Share the Bread of Life in the Eucharist Focus: Holy Communion: uniting us with God and one another in the community of the Church. Mass: being sent out to live the Gospel

Sacrament of First Eucharist Themes Lessons 5,6 & 7 Focus: The following lessons will look in detail at the role of Scripture and Sacrament, in the Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist through studying parts of the Mass.

The Workbook The Workbook and Home Sessions complement the teaching and preparation carried out in school. The Workbook contains supporting materials and activities in all the learning which follows and will be sent home at the appropriate points.

The Workbook Each time that the workbook is sent home, please look at page 3. Home Sessions that should be completed will be written here. After you have completed the session please return the workbook for the date provided.

The Workbook The workbook should be completed together. Each Home Session ends with a Prayertime. This is a very important part of the session. In class each lesson will end with a Prayertime, at which a candle is usually lit. If you have your child’s Baptismal Candle, you could use it for the Home Session Prayertime.
