‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’

Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, with a sincere and a true heart.

Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have failed to do: we have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, forgive us. Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Everlasting God, whose will is to restore all things in your well-beloved Son, our Lord and King: grant that the people of earth, now divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his gentle and loving rule; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Psalm 132.1-12 APBA 364

1 Lord, remember David and all his trouble: how he swore an oath to the Lord, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob; 2 ‘I will not enter the shelter of my house: nor climb into the comfort of my bed; 3 ‘I will not give sleep to my eyes: or slumber to my eyelids, 4 ‘Till I find out a place for the ark of the Lord: a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.’ 5 Lo, we heard of it at Ephrathah: we found it in the fields of Ja-ar. 6 Let us go to the place of his dwelling: let us fall upon our knees before his footstool.

7 Arise, O Lord, into your resting-place: you, and the ark of your might. 8 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness: and let your faithful ones shout for joy. 9 For the sake of David your servant: do not turn away the face of your anointed. 10 The Lord has sworn to David: an oath which he will not break; 11 ‘One who is the fruit of your body: I will set upon your throne. 12 ‘If your children will keep my covenant and the commands which I teach them: their children also shall sit upon your throne for ever.’

Speak O Lord

Speak O Lord as we come to you to receive the food, of Your Holy word. Take Your Truth, plant it deep in us shape and fashion us in your likeness; that the light of Christ might be seen today in our acts of love and our deeds of faith. Speak O Lord, and fulfill in us all Your purposes for Your glory.

Teach us, Lord, full obedience, Holy reverence true humility. Test our thoughts and our attitudes in the radiance of Your purity. Cause our faith to rise, cause our eyes to see. Your majestic love and authority. Words of power that can never fail; let their truth prevail over unbelief.

Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds; Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us. Truths unchanged from the dawn of time, that will echo down through eternity. And by grace we’ll stand on Your promises; and by faith we’ll walk as You walk with us. Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built, and the earth is filled with Your glory.

A Reading from John Chapter 18, Verses 33-37 Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ For the Gospel of the Lord, Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

SERVICE FOR ADMISSION OF BAPTISED CHILDREN TO HOLY COMMUNION BEFORE CONFIRMATION

Those to be admitted come forward, accompanied by their parents and/or sponsors, who present the group to the priest with these words: Sponsors : We present to you, Samuel, Luke, Eva, Koby and Mia who have asked to be admitted to Holy Communion. Priest : Kara, have these young people been prepared as per the requirements of this Parish? Teacher: Yes, they have completed their preparation and I, with their sponsors, support them to be admitted to Holy Communion.

Priest: My brothers and sisters, when you were baptised you became members of the church, the family of God. We look forward to the future when you will be confirmed by your Bishop and be commissioned for Christian witness and service. Now, with the help of your parents, sponsors, and the parish family, you are learning to understand the service of Holy Communion and to take part in its celebration. We now welcome you to share with us in the taking of the bread and the wine, in Holy Communion. The priest then asks that candidates: Priest: Do you wish to be admitted to Holy Communion?

Candidates: I do. Priest: Will you be faithful in coming regularly to receive the Holy Communion? Candidate: I will. Priest: Will you be faithful in saying your prayers, reading your Bible and living a Christian life? Candidate: I will. Priest: The Lord bless you, Father Son and Holy Spirit. All: Amen. The priest then admits each candidate, saying the following words:

Priest : N, I admit you to Holy Communion in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who died and rose again from the dead. May you draw near in faith, and be renewed by the Holy Spirit, to feed on Christ in your hearts, with thanksgiving. To the congregation : Members of Christ in this parish, will you encourage these new communicants by your friendship at all times, by your presence at worship and by your witness and service? All: We will. We welcome you into the fellowship of the Holy Communion.

Let us together affirm the faith of the Church: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Jesus said: I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6.35

My heart is filled with thankfulness to him who bore my pain; who plumbed the depths of my disgrace and gave me life again; who crushed my curse of sinfulness and clothed me in his light and wrote his law of righteousness with power upon my heart.

My heart is filled with thankfulness to him who walks beside; who floods my weaknesses and strengths and causes fear to fly. Whose every promise is enough for every step I take. Sustaining me with arms of love and crowning me with grace.

My heart is filled with thankfulness to him who reigns above. Whose wisdom is my perfect peace. Whose every thought is love. For every day I have on earth is given by the King. So I will give my life my all to love and follow Him. Stuart Townend and Keith Getty 2002.

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have these gifts to share. Accept and use our offerings for your Glory And for the service of your kingdom. Blessed be God for ever.

All glory and honour be yours always and everywhere, mighty Creator, everliving God. We give you thanks and praise for our Saviour Jesus Christ, who by the power of your Spirit was born of Mary and lived as one of us. By his death on the cross and rising to new life, he offered the one true sacrifice for sin and obtained an eternal deliverance for his people.

Therefore with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we proclaim your great and glorious name, for ever praising you and saying: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Merciful God, we thank you for these gifts of your creation, this bread and wine, and we pray that by your Word and Holy Spirit, we who eat and drink them may be partakers of Christ's body and blood. On the night he was betrayed Jesus took bread; and when he had given you thanks he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying,

'Take, eat. This is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.‘ After supper, he took the cup, and again giving you thanks he gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.‘ Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Therefore we do as our Saviour has commanded: proclaiming his offering of himself made once for all upon the cross, his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension, and looking for his coming again, we celebrate, with this bread and this cup, his one perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.

Renew us by your Holy Spirit, unite us in the body of your Son, and bring us with all your people into the joy of your eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, with whom, and in whom, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we worship you, Father, in songs of never-ending praise: Blessing and honour and glory and power are yours for ever and ever. Amen.

As our Saviour has taught us we are confident to pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread.

The gifts of God for the people of God. Come let us take this holy sacrament of the body and blood of Christ in remembrance that he died for us, and feed on him in our hearts by faith with thanksgiving.
