BASIN A bowl-shaped area of land drained by a river

BAY A broad inlet of the sea where the land curves inward

COVE A small sheltered bay

CREEK A minor tributary of a river

DELTA A triangle- shaped deposit of sand, clay or silt at the mouth of a river

FJORD A narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs

GEYSER A hot spring in which water intermittently boils, sending a tall column of water and steam into the air.

GLACIER A slowly moving mass of ice formed by the accumulation and compaction of snow

GULF A deep inlet of the sea almost surrounded by land with a narrow mouth

LAGOON A stretch of salt water separated from the sea by a low sandbank or coral reef

LAKE A body of water surrounded entirely by land; usually freshwater

OCEAN A very large expanse of sea

WATER FALL A cascade of water falling from a height, formed when a river or stream flows over a steep incline

WETLAND Land consisting of marshes or swamps; saturated land.
