New Year’s Day is the main holiday in our country. Women’s Day is an international holiday, it started in Europe in 1911, and was for the first time celebrated in Russia in 1913. May Day is the holiday of spring.

It is interesting Christmas, Palm Sunday and Easter are Christian holidays Shrove-tide is a pagan holiday.

Shrove-tide Is loved by everybody. This is the holiday when we see Winter off and greet Spring. The Pagans believed that Spring was a sweet young girl and needed help. So,they burned the figure of Winter and made pancakes, or blins which symbolise the Sun.

It lasts 7 days. Each day has it’s own name. Monday-is >. On this day people have many tasty things on the table

Tuesday > On this day in old times young people tobogganed and looked for wives and husbands

Wednesday > Mother-in-law invited son-in-law to dinner

Thursday > On this day there were different rituals,man drank deer

Friday > On this day son-in-law treated Mother- in-law

Saturday > or > A bride calls relatives to her house

Sunday > After supper before going to bed the member of the family ask pardon of each other.
