2. Adjectives of just one syllable form the superlative by adding "-est":
Bright … brightest
If a one syllable adjective ends in "e", simply add “st":
Nice … nicest
For some adjectives, it is necessary to double the last letter before adding "-est".
Big … biggest
All adjectives of three or more syllables form the comparative with “the most ".
Beautiful …the most beautiful
Those that end in "y", change the "y" to "i" and add "-est":
Happy … happiest
The following adjectives are exceptions:
‘good’ becomes ‘the best’
‘bad’ becomes ‘the worst’
‘far’ becomes ‘ the furthest’
