CHARACTERIZATION: All stories, books, and movies have characters. This is a no brainer, however, now we have to find out the different terms that describe characters. Get ready to take notes.

Protagonist The protagonist is always the main character in the story. Antagonist is the main enemy of the protagonist.

Dynamic or round characters Dynamic or round characters will change throughout the course of the story. These characters are usually the main characters of the story.

Static or flat characters Static or flat characters have personalities that never change throughout the story. Although their presence in the story may bring about changes within the story, they will not change.

Personification Personification is giving human characteristics to everyday ideas, objects, and animals.)

Examples of personification The sun danced across the sky on the hot summer day. The big full moon guided me through the forest. The mountain listened to the rumbles beneath its surface. As the rain pounded to the ground, everyone ran for cover.
